Muchangpo Beach became one of the first man-made beaches in Korea. Due to its unique location, it is the site of the famous Sea Parting Festival - a phenomenon that occurs only twice a year during summer high tide. The waters of the beach part to bare a 1.5km long strip of land that connects the beach with the nearby island. During other seasons, Muchagpo Beach offers gentle shallow waters, pine forests and beautiful sunsets.
Apart from the regular water sports, the beach offers a "Moses Miracle" and a mud-flat experience. Families and tourists of all ages visit Muchangpo in the summer to catch crabs, gather clams and enjoy the mud in quieter surroundings (compared to the nearby Boryeong and Daecheon Beach).
Muchangpo Mystic Sea Road Festival (무창포 신비의 바닷길축제): 15th and 30th of July on the Lunar Calendar
Muchangpo Jukkumi and Dodari Festival (무창포 주꾸미/도다리축제): mid-March to early April
